Ellie Shrader Therapist Omaha-01.png

I’m a mental health therapist committed to helping people learn how to build healthier relationships with themselves, their loved ones, and the world. My work focuses on targeting past experiences, present life concerns, and taking steps towards your future life. I believe in giving the body its due and taking a collaborative approach to helping clients gently bring their mind and body back together. I believe that sometimes, we need a “Top-down” or cognitive approach to heal but often, we also need a, “Bottom up” or more somatic approach to help the body heal alongside the mind.

THE PATH TO HELPING OTHERS

I have worked with children and families in various roles since 2003, with a focus on skill building and family connection. I have been in mental health practice for 8 years, after completing a master’s degree from Bellevue University. I work primarily with adults in the midst of life transitions including young families in the perinatal and postpartum period, adults with children leaving the nest, career changes, and other life events. I often treat anxiety, depression, codependency, and posttraumatic stress disorder.

I use a client-centered approach to create a safe, judgement-free space to process past experiences, present transitions, and future goals in order to help clients work towards accessing their most authentic Self.  I assist clients with a mind-body approach, incorporating mindfulness-based techniques, EMDR, Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing principles, in order to identify the root of emotional and physical distress.  Increasing awareness of how the body signals suffering and is connected to one’s emotional life allows for a greater ability to relate with one’s inner world, to improve the ability to cope with life challenges, and engage in fulfilling relationships.
